Medication Management:
Medications are one of the treatment options when they work but it is very important to monitor how they work for you. Frequently when your emotional/mental health is out of balance and you might think that taking medication/s will resolve all your imbalances but it is not fully realistic to cure all your symptoms.
Medications play an important part in your recovery but your efforts to integrate holistic health options such as exercise, nutrition, adequate sleep, work-life balance, hobbies, relationships, spirituality, environmental changes, etc. contribute significantly to the improvement of your entire well-being.
Before starting medication/s, I will review with you:
Options/administration recommendations
Risks/benefits
Potential side effects/limitations
Monitoring requirements (such as close monitoring of new medications' effectiveness; frequency of follow-up visits after symptoms are managed every 3-6 months; laboratory monitoring).
Medication management visit is generally 20-25 minutes.
Psychotherapy:
I integrate an eclectic approach in individual psychotherapy grounded in different theories, techniques, and modalities to facilitate your healing process. My approach is interactive and I coach you to solve your problems.
Psychotherapy offers unique possibilities in the recovery of mental/emotional health. This form of therapy assists individuals to restore balance, harmony, and flow of neural networks that have become disconnected and improves the overall functioning of the brain. Moreover, psychotherapy promotes continued growth and connection with self and others, thus healing process occurs and the person moves forward in planning for the future.
Psychotherapy can either be a 20-25 minute or 45-50 minute session depending on your needs. I combine BOTH psychotherapy and medication management in each visit. The frequency of visits depends on your circumstances.
Acupressure:
Application of light to moderate fingertip pressure to 50 sequential acupressure points to restore the flow of energy along distinct channels of energy, called meridians. The healing touch of fingers pressing certain points on the body releases blocked or “static” energy. Acupressure therapy takes place with the client fully clothed and lying down on the back of the massage table.
Acudetox:
This specialized form of acupuncture is performed by placing five thin, sterile, stainless steel, and single-use needles in specific sites on your ears when the client is sitting in the chair. The needles are left in place 35-45 minutes.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR):
This is one of the approaches to psychotherapy that has been practiced in the U.S. and around the world for the past 25 years. It integrates many of the successful elements of a range of therapeutic approaches, yet there are aspects of EMDR that are unique. In particular, the therapist leads a patient in a series of lateral eye movements while the patient simultaneously focuses on various aspects of a disturbing memory. The left–right eye movements in EMDR therapy are a form of “bilateral stimulation”. EMDR therapy is applicable for a wide range of psychological problems that result from overwhelming life experiences.
GeneSightNeuropsychiatric Pharmacogenomics Test:
The GeneSight test analyzes a patient’s genes and gives healthcare providers information to help them select the right medicine(s) that are more likely to work for an individual patient. GeneSight provides answers that can lead to a personalized treatment plan and faster response and remission for patients.
The GeneSight is a test that analyzes how your genes can affect the way your body may respond to FDA-approved medications commonly prescribed to treat certain health conditions. GeneSight test now analyzes a total of 55 medications. The test is easy to administer and takes about five minutes. Your DNA is collected using a simple cheek swab which you can do yourself. Your clinician’s office will then send your sample to the Assurex Health clinical lab to be analyzed. For more information check: https://genesight.com/for-patients/
